  1. Hi Michelle -

I think you have a good start - I would suggest looking at the outline that Professor Van Dyke provided in iLearn, and his sample story. He had some pretty clear sections / requirements - so I just don't want you to miss out on anything.

For instance - the course has really been focused on the integration of social platforms - a consistent, "one voice" approach - so I wouldn't break out the different channels. I would talk about the successes / failures in the context of an entire strategy, not individual stratgies depending on the platform.

    Just my two cents!

    1. I did read through our Professor's outline and I plan on writing it in that manner. I outlined it like this just to see what information I need with each site. It is definitely a rough outline but I think I'm on the right track. I wanted to cover all of the information I needed to include. Thanks for your input!

    2. Hi Michele-
It is a little difficult to critique these rough drafts since we all seem to be at different stages in the process. My suggestion to you is to be as specific as possible. What were your goals specifically...pageviews, comments etc. What were your results specifically in relation to your goals? My next suggestion is to distinguish results that are a reflection of visitation vs. true engagement. We have the option of posting an updated version towards by Friday if you would like us to give you additional feedback. You are off to a good start!

    3. Thanks Sue! I definitely have to include the specific numbers in my final paper. I just wanted to get my ideas down on digital paper. I may try to get an updated one up soon,

  2. Hey Michele,

You have a good base outline for what you are going to talk about. I would definitely echo the sentiments above expressed by Susan and Adrienne. It would be better if you provided more detail and more closely followed the outline set by Prof. Van Dyke. Although, I do understand this is you just getting the information you want to go over down on paper. The Activities section should be a more straightforward chronological run down of your Blogger, Twitter, and Pinterest accounts. The ideas you plan on going over are good but I think can be split off across several sections of the paper.

Your plans for your future use of Blogger, Twitter, and Pinterest can be put into the Conclusion section of your paper. You can put sections such as these “Incorporate my page view research and amount of comments/followers…Did my page views increase over time…Tell how many followers and retweets I have… How many people follow me…How many likes and re-pins did I get?” under the Analysis section.

Did you ever get around to using Google Analytics? It might be too late now if you didn't set it up earlier in the semester but it can provide some really great, specific data on demographics and different engagement metrics. I know I set it up towards the beginning of the semester and only checked on it sporadically over the course of the semester but I returned to it when preparing this assignment and found a lot of really good information for my Analysis. I think that would be a really good way to get a lot of the specifics that Susan talks about above.

    1. Thanks for the input Nash!

My outline is definitely rough. It was basically me thinking out loud. I really appreciate your ideas. I was kind of all over the place when I was trying to figure out how to put it together.

Future plans for my sites is certainly something for the conclusion. I fully intend on using the outline Prof. Van Dyke provided us with. I have looked at my page view numbers and referring sites so I have an idea, it is just a matter of how I am going to incorporate it. Thanks for the advice!

    2. I'm going to echo Nash's comments - and also offer one thought that I've seen on other classmate's blogs as well.

A lot of folks are seeing international views on their blogs - mostly from Europe. Why do you think that is? Did your blog get any views from outside of the United States / North America?

Another topic that has gotten a lot of discussion is referring sites. I have found, and have seen on other blogs, that Twitter was a big generator of views. I would think about including, in your analysis section, a discussion of not only where your views came from, but why they came from those places. Did you do anything specific to target those audiences over others?

Again - I'm just offering suggestions based on generalities, and things I've seen from other classmates. It's hard to offer constructive, specific feedback when there isn't a lot of data.

    3. I had a numer of foreign visitors from Germany, France, Spain and Australia. I would have thought that England would have shown up, being an English speaking country.

  4. Michelle,

I read your new Storify paper and the introduction is great. It introduces the topic really well without dragging on. You discuss the importance of social media and brought up each social media site you used to create your paper. You also provided great examples of tweets that you used to drive traffic to your blog. The strategies were also good because they talked about how you planned to get people to the blog site.

Overall good paper but you may want to break the analysis section down by week. You mention a couple of different points where your blog received more or less views and followers but you did not break it down by week. If you enter data from week to week it may open up some new topics to discuss in your conclusion. You example you could talk about why you felt certain weeks were more or less effective.

    Great Post!
